A chainsaw is an efficient, lightweight gas-, electric- or battery- powered saw which cuts through trees with a series of sharp teeth affixed to a spinning chain driven by a guiding bar. It is commonly used for trimming limbs on farms and forests where the terrain is too thick to lug a lawn mower or a wheelbarrow. It is also used in other activities including tree felling, chopping firewood, trimming wildfire suppressing brush, and harvesting of fallen firewood. A chainsaw can be manually or mechanically operated; the manual process is far faster and easier to use than the mechanical versions. The propane or natural gas powered chainsaw is the most popular and the easiest to use.

There are three main types of chainsaw – chain saw, table saw, and chain pliers. In using any one of these tools, it is important to note that all three operate in much the same way: they allow a user to cut through trees and logs; the difference lies in the mechanisms. Chain saws allow users to cut branches or logs at high speeds; chainsaws on the other hand, allow users to cut dense and heavy pieces of timber at rapid speed. Table saws are more useful for splitting and crosscutting large pieces of timber while chainsaws are best used for precise cuts. Chain saws are generally more expensive and heavier than the table saw although there are some chain saws available that are designed to be used as both a table saw and a chainsaw bestofchinsaw.

Before any operation is started, a chainsaw user must ensure that the chain tension is correctly adjusted. This is done by disengaging the chain brake component that keeps the chain lined up with the bar; in order to do this, the bar should be halfway between the front of the saw and the rear of the chainsaw. To set the chain tension, lower the bar towards the ground; as the chain guides the bar, allow it to contact the ground. It is advisable to place a pad under the chainsaw in order to protect the chain from damage if a fall occurs.

The chainsaw has a guide bar that guides the cutting blades through the timber. These are usually located in the front of the saws. Although it is located in the front, some chainsaw models also feature side panels that guide the blades in the opposite direction. When these are not present, the chainsaw relies on the angle formed by the guide bar to guide the blade. A chainsaw blade can be locked or unlocked using a special key; most locks have a notch located above the blade. Once the chainsaw has been locked, the chainsaw can be started with the supplied string; the chainsaw driver must then be inserted into the chainsaw’s case.

After starting the chainsaw, it is important to lubricate the chain. The chain must be allowed to flow freely through the chain brake before proceeding. In addition, any dirt in the chain should be cleaned before starting the chain. Before proceeding, any chainsaw parts that require chain oil should be lubricated using the chain oil bottle provided with the chainsaw. If any cleaning or lubrication of the chain is required after starting the chainsaw, ensure that all accessories are disconnected and that all parts are fully drained before replacing the chain brake.

Some chainsaw users switch to electric chainsaws for easier work. However, chainsaw users who have experienced the inconvenience caused by using electric saws are still advocates of using the manual version. It is important to ensure that the chain is properly adjusted to prevent back chatter. The length of the run should also be checked before starting the chain. Chainsaw users who intend to use woodworking tools on hard wood floors should ensure that the chainsaw is powerful enough to cut wood to the desired depth.
